Sleep at Phuket

Good enough for the price, and not far from the pier. The bed was comfortable, though I wasn't keen on the shower.

The area was lovely and quiet, while still close enough to old town. We appreciated being away from busy traffic and crowds of tourists. The staff were super friendly, and they brought bottled water each day. I really enjoyed staying here and would come back.

It's only about a five-minute walk to the lively heritage part of Phuket Old Town, while Montri Road itself is fairly quiet. For a budget hotel, SLEEP has a surprisingly roomy lobby and a little foyer where you can watch people go by. The public areas are spotless, and the rooms are even cleaner. The service is low-key and friendly. Even with the very modest rate, they provide bottled water and toilet paper daily, and the white bed linen was pristine. Great value in a prime location.

The free breakfast started at 7 am, but we checked out an hour earlier, so we didn't get to try the menu. There's a motorbike rental place beside the guesthouse, which is handy. Our room was on the fourth floor, and after days of going up and down stairs around the jungle, I was glad there was an elevator. Check-in was quick and they escorted us straight up. The lobby was spacious, and we got a welcome drink, more than we'd expected for the rate. The place has a modern feel from the layout and decor. Our bedroom was cute, with a big cupboard so we could unpack without piling things on the bed. We faced the road, though, and the sunlight came straight in. If you're planning to spend daytime in the room, get one with air conditioning, otherwise expect to sweat. It gave us a comfortable place to sleep while traveling in southern Thailand.
