The WIDE Condotel - Phuket

Helpful people in the office and lovely guards. There’s a pool, sauna, gym, and plenty of parking. I love this place.

I stayed in the wide condo for my whole time in Phuket. The rooms are spacious, and there’s a pool, gym, and sauna on the 7th floor. I loved my housekeepers, especially one beautiful older lady. She never let me help with anything, haha, but I helped clean anyway and bought my own breakfast. I’m grateful to the host. Thank you.

The only thing I liked was the really soft bed. It was amazing. Everything else was drama with the staff, and I’d steer clear of this hotel. They were rude, unfriendly, and seemed to have no idea what they were doing. They lost our booking, made us pay again, and the manager promised written proof that our refund would arrive in two weeks. The letter never came. At 4 a.m., they made us go back to get our empty complimentary water bottles from the bin, even though they knew we had an early airport departure and were on scooters. They hadn’t told us we had to return the bottles or be charged. It felt like the staff went out of their way to make check-in and checkout as complicated as possible. The family room had a tiny couch that only fit one person, and the balcony was a joke, very small, with hot air from the air conditioner blowing onto you. The steam room was broken. The pool was nice but nothing like the pictures. The location was really bad too, with nothing close by. The nearest shop for anything was a 20-minute walk through heat and hills, which wasn’t practical.

We went in low season and got the deluxe room for a very cheap price. It had a big fridge, a living area, and a large bed. The staff were very friendly, and they cleaned the room every day. Delivery food can be brought to the bottom of your building, even though there are several buildings. The rooftop pool was nice, with a small dry sauna, a steam sauna, and a small gym, though I don’t think the steam sauna was working. Night markets are a short ride by bike or car, and there’s good local food nearby. Don’t take the smaller street shortcut, use the main road instead. They gave me a free Wi-Fi code at check-in, but it didn’t work, so I had to call for a new one. I think there are two reception desks, and you might need to check in at the second one down the parking lot. The downside was the very weak shower pressure and a bathroom that smelled bad, like sweat and armpits. There’s also a long list of things you can be charged a lot for if you damage them in the room, including stained sheets. It seems a bit much since accidents happen, but it is a condo, so who knows. For the low price, I was happy with the service and would recommend it.
