LOFT Salaya

The main draw for me was the location. My company sponsored a running event at Mahidol University, and The Loft is just steps away. I arrived at 10 PM and left at 4:30 AM, so it was a short stay, but I got a clear sense of the place. I booked three weeks ahead and still got the last room, a two-bedroom unit with one bathroom and a separate toilet. More space than I needed as a solo business traveler, but there weren't other options. I had read reviews mentioning plenty of ground-floor parking, but on event night the lot was full of students and other attendees. Staff sent me to park on the street instead, which worked out, just wasn't what I'd expected. The room was worn, with tired furniture and aged surfaces, more like a student dorm than a hotel. Its budget Chinese air conditioner was loud and inefficient, enough to disrupt my sleep. I switched to the living room unit and left the door cracked to cope with the noise. The bed was the worst part. It was so hard it felt like a wooden board with a thin cloth over it. As a side sleeper, I couldn't manage it and spent the night on my back. Bringing my own pillow and blanket was a good call, and I'd recommend that for light sleepers or anyone particular about their bedding. Between 11 PM and midnight, the lights flickered and went out twice, for 3-5 minutes each time. Colleagues on the same floor had no such issue, so it may have been specific to my room. In the already dim, run-down space, it felt unsettling. The location is genuinely convenient for Mahidol events, and the staff member who checked me in was still there to check me out at 4:30 AM. They were professional and helpful. If you just need a place to crash for an event, it'll do, but go in with low expectations and bring a pillow. For the price, the value is questionable. To me, it's a dorm with a booking page.
