Khaolak Orchid Beach Resort

We stayed in room 216 on the first floor in April 2026. It was a quiet, relaxing hotel with spacious rooms and a lovely bathroom with both a shower and bathtub. The balcony had plenty of room, with two wooden chairs and a small table. Staff were very friendly, and breakfast was good and plentiful. There are several private restaurants close by, and the hotel shuttle takes you to the market and into town for 100 baht per person, with pickup and drop-off at an agreed time.

We spent 11 fantastic nights at Orchid Beach Resort and would happily book it again if we return to Khao Lak. We were a group of nine and had our own long table at the breakfast buffet each morning, a really nice touch. Breakfast had a good variety, and the hotel restaurant did good Thai food as well as international dishes. The bacon cream pasta was especially nice when we wanted a break from Thai food. The family room worked brilliantly with children. It's almost a small apartment, with a living area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a shower and bathtub. The room pictures were taken as we were leaving, which is why everything looks messy. The staff deserve special mention for how attentive and kind they were. The man with the Rasta hat noticed my youngest had left her swimming goggles by the pool and made sure she got them back. Another time, he put the children's half-finished sodas in the fridge and returned them when they came back from the beach. We appreciated that care a lot. Staff at the pool kept an eye on things, and everyone was incredibly friendly and service minded, on par with or better than 5 star hotels. It's an older hotel, but clean and well maintained. We got more Thai atmosphere and personal warmth here than at many fancier places, even though we usually book 5 star hotels. The quiet setting is still close to Bang Niang and Khao Lak. There's hotel massage at normal town prices, plus four massage places, a small shop, and two restaurants next door besides the hotel's own. You can rent good scooters with phone holders from the hotel, and one restaurant farther down the road rents them too. The sandy beach is across the road. The sand isn't white, and sometimes the current stirs it up so the water isn't completely clear, but it's still lovely for swimming. A shuttle runs to Bang Niang and Khao Lak from 14.00 to 21.30, which is very convenient.

Right on the beach, in a lovely location, and the staff were absolutely amazing, as they have been everywhere I've visited in Thailand. The hotel itself is starting to look weathered and could use some care. It's quite far from the main resorts and shops, though I still really liked the spot ❤️

A quiet spot for a laid-back stay, with no parties. The pool was the only attraction for young children, but they had a great time in it. The beach is just across the street, though there's no shade, trees, or amenities there. Our room was spacious and clean when we arrived, and staff cleaned it daily. The AC worked, but was a bit loud and didn't have enough settings for a quiet low mode overnight. Breakfast was good, with eggs cooked fresh every day, though the food selection was good but much the same each morning. The staff were kind and very helpful.
