Metro Hotel & Spa

The room was clean and nice enough for what I paid, though it could have been better. The internet was stable and had a good signal. Service wasn’t friendly: the security guard didn’t bother showing us to the lobby, and breakfast wasn’t served on time. No one wanted to talk to me about the delay. I asked reception to call my room once breakfast was ready, but he just hung up without a word.

The hotel was pretty good and comfortable, but I had to check in early, at about 5 am. Staff said I could avoid the extra fee if I checked in about two hours later. That’s only a two-hour difference, which seemed ridiculous.

The hotel is well maintained, with fairly large, clean rooms. It’s not very well set up for foreigners: nobody at reception speaks English, and the TV only has a few Thai channels, with nothing in other languages. Thung Song has very few tourists, so it’s understandable that hardly anyone speaks English and restaurant menus are only in Thai. There are no taxis in town, so if you need to travel around with luggage, you’ll want private transportation.

Customer service was terrible. We stayed three nights, and after the first night they took our towels without leaving fresh ones. The advertising was completely false, since there was no pool or spa. There was no kettle, iron, or hairdryer in the rooms, and they gave us just one roll of toilet paper for the whole three-night stay.
