Maison De Cheer

The staff were really nice, but the rooms weren't as good as we'd hoped. There weren't enough hangers or places to put clothes, and the bathroom needs work. It has separate hot and cold shower heads, but the hot one never got hot enough. The place has potential, especially if they renovate the bathrooms.

The hotel is cozy and quite new, with a spacious room. There's a really good dimsum restaurant right next door, which is another nice thing about staying here. This was our second stay. We first came for one night in 2020, during the Covid pandemic. The hotel is right behind Trang train station, so it's fairly easy to walk around the city. Crossing the road from the hotel through the traffic and railway can be a bit challenging, though.

The staff were very helpful and arranged a taxi for me to catch the ferry to Koh Mook. The room was spacious and practical, though not especially pretty. It's centrally located, but getting from the back of the station to the front by crossing the train tracks to reach shops and restaurants feels dangerous at night. The American breakfast wasn't good. I wasn't offered an Asian breakfast, though the Chinese family at the next table got a different one. I'd suggest asking for that.

The room was a nice size and very clean, and the staff were pleasant. Breakfast was cheap. But the hotel is on a busy main road with no apparent footpath, so you have to walk along the road to get there. It's noisy, too. From the town centre we had to go through the train station and cross the railway line to reach the hotel. Ask for a room at the back, not the front, or you won't sleep.
