The hotel’s biggest plus is where it sits, right in the middle of town, across from the night market. You can wander through for local food, and there’s a 7-11 and Amazon Coffee nearby. It’s easy to explore temples, the museum, and other sights on foot. A taxi from the airport costs 60 THB, about $2, and the bus terminal is roughly the same fare. The building feels its age throughout, from the room and bathroom to the elevator and other facilities. Cleanliness was acceptable, and the bed and mattress were clean enough for me to sleep without clothes, though the room smelled a little stale. The light was a bit dim, and the wall socket was unusable. Wi-Fi was OK, but the TV was an old CRT and the fridge was small. The wardrobe suits two people. The bathroom is cramped, the toilet barely flushes, and sometimes the shower runs like a cat peeing.

There’s a night market selling local food right across the road, and the location is nice. The price is fair, too. The hotel has been around for as long as I can remember. They’re renovating the front building, but guests are still being welcomed as usual.

It’s handy being in the city, with Thung Si Muang Park nearby for a walk or some exercise, plus cafes, banks, restaurants, and other places close by. The room I had didn’t get hot water, so regular room checks would help. There’s no meeting room either. Still, it’s a nice place to stay.

I wouldn’t stay here if you’re worried about your money. I left cash in my bag while I was out, and the housekeeper stole it. The room door locks automatically, but housekeepers have keys to every room and can get in. Pick somewhere else, or you could end up with a problem.

You can’t beat the location in Ubon City, and our night cost just 400 baht. The room itself was very basic and pretty dirty, though. The old bedsheet still had a blood stain on it, and the shower had mold in several spots. Facilities are basic, with no kettle or coffee cups. The shower worked OK.
