Chong Ti Hotel

The hotel’s location is great. The rooms are a decent size, and the air conditioning works well, though it has a funky smell that an air freshener might fix. Hot water worked sometimes. The water pump was broken during my stay but got fixed overnight.

It’s my current go-to place in Dili because the value is so good. Hotels and hostels here can be extremely expensive compared with Southeast Asia, but this is the best value for a room you’ll find. You get hot water, a kettle, a fridge, a clean room, and a comfortable bed. The location is great too, close to lots of shops and places to eat. There’s a local bakery a one-minute walk away where you can eat inside and grab a coffee, perfect for a morning snack. The girls at the front desk are always helpful and cheerful. They take cash and ask for an additional $10 deposit, which is refunded at checkout.

We had to switch rooms when we extended our stay. The first room was decent, clean, and had working facilities. In the new room, the air conditioning barely worked, the toilet barely flushed, and the bathroom light flickered really badly.

For Dili, this is a very good budget hotel. All the rooms have a kettle, and some of the more expensive ones might have a fridge. There’s Starlink Wi-Fi, available in reception and in some rooms near it, plus hot water in the shower. Staff are friendly, and a couple speak good English. They also helped us with an abandoned kitten we’d rescued. On our checkout day, they kept it there until the vet could come and take care of it. Obrigada!
