La Cigale Tabarka Hotel Thalasso Spa & Golf

We spent two weeks here and came away feeling relaxed and refreshed. The spa had a broad choice of treatments, and the beach made it easy to slow down and unwind. The hotel is peaceful and beautifully looked after, and the kind, attentive staff made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it.

The location and room were very good, but the price felt too high for what we got. I booked half board and was still charged for water with dinner, which seemed odd. They also only supplied bathroom items, including toothpaste, for one person. The spa and massage area didn’t feel private. We had to walk through a publicly accessible route wearing our “cap de bain,” and as a hijabi I wasn’t comfortable with that. Nobody warned me beforehand. I’ve had more privacy in Western countries than at this hotel. Burkini swimwear wasn’t allowed, which felt discriminatory when I was paying the same as everyone else, and the excuses only made things worse. The central heating wasn’t working, though the portable heater they gave us helped a little.

The team handling our car and luggage were especially professional and welcoming, and made things feel smooth. The rest of the staff were friendly too, though we did have to ask twice before towels arrived. I was disappointed that the small anniversary celebration I’d requested was forgotten. They apologized, but it took away from the special feeling I’d hoped for on our first wedding anniversary at Cigale Hotel in Tabarka. There’s a lot to like about the property, including the lovely decor, clean pools, green grounds, and striking aquarium. Still, the food didn’t meet my expectations for a five-star deluxe hotel. There wasn’t much variety, the quality was lacking, and the beef steak and grilled shrimp had some sand on them. The hotel is luxurious and has plenty of potential, but the experience didn’t match its reputation or price.

The spa was a standout, with great treatments and a skilled team who helped us unwind. We spent two restful weeks at La Cigale, and the calm, welcoming atmosphere made it easy to recharge and enjoy the sea. The staff were attentive throughout, and everything felt well taken care of. A lovely place to come for a proper rest.
