Our family still has very fond memories of the six nights we spent here several years ago, even though the kids thought it was too basic at the time. It felt a little adventurous while still being safe, and the water activities were what everyone enjoyed most. I hope they've added more equipment for the water since then. The resort looked quite run down, and we had issues with the ceiling fan and plumbing. The staff were hospitable, quick to respond, and fixed the problems. You could hear the generators, which don't show up in photos. Tonga could use more rubbish cleanup and better facilities for locals and visitors. The public toilets we saw ranged from shady to completely vandalised.

We had a relaxed, authentic seven-day stay at this family and village-run resort. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and we especially loved the meals, particularly the tuna. Bring snacks and mosquito repellent. We'd stay here again.

The fale was simple but comfortable, and we kept busy exploring the beach and nearby area, so we didn't miss having a TV or fast Wi-Fi in the room. This is a village-run business, and the team work hard together to keep it going. They're very friendly. The beach and resort weren't the best I've experienced, but we had a fantastic time.

There were kayaks to use, and one of our favourite moments was paddling on Sunday evening while choir music drifted across from a church. Snorkelling was great too. The island has only about 200 people, and with so few other visitors around, it felt a bit like having it to ourselves. Daniela, Nofor and the rest of the staff treated us like royalty and made us feel like friends. They seemed to think of what we needed before we did. I was serenaded by the traditional band and given a cake for my birthday. The food was brilliant, especially the fish caught fresh each day. The amenities were basic but kept very clean and tidy, and we were surprised our fale was serviced daily. We left feeling we'd had a real cultural experience in paradise, not just a stay at a "touristy" resort. Malo aupito! Love, Danielle and Peter.

The private villas were comfortable, and the boat ride to Atata was beautiful. This is a village-run resort, which was lovely to see. It isn't five-star, but the atmosphere and enjoyment felt like five-star to us. Sadly, the island has recently been destroyed by a tsunami and earthquake. Our prayers are with the people of Atata xxxx.
