Campus Hill Hotel

The view from the hotel is amazing, and the people are kind and ready to help with anything. The food is good too. The area still seems to be under renovation, but it’s an easy walk of 2 km to the beach, or five minutes by car. The massages are especially good and worth trying.

The luggage carrier’s behavior made for a really bad start. After showing us our room at Campus Hill Hotel, he immediately asked for a tip. Tipping isn’t common where I’m from, and I was tired and in a bad mood, so I refused, thinking it was part of his job. He got angry, insulted us in Turkish as if we wouldn’t understand, then slammed the door as he left. He was short and slim, with glasses, black hair, and brown eyes. That first interaction spoiled the start of our stay. Fortunately, the other staff were friendly and professional. The person in the hotel market and a staff member at the spa were especially attentive and helpful, which improved our experience a lot. The food, drinks, room cleanliness, pool, and other facilities were decent and met expectations. The hotel has good facilities and generally friendly staff, especially in the market and spa. I recommend that management speak with the luggage carrier.

The beach setup was old and dirty, with grimy sunbeds and rude staff, and the hourly shuttle bus was old and dirty too. The spot itself was disgusting and made the trip there no more pleasant. At the hotel, the food was very average. If you wanted salad or something better, you had to arrive as service started and queue for ages. Otherwise you couldn’t try most dishes. The place is out in the middle of nowhere, and the room wasn’t clean. There was hair everywhere and it looked nasty. Some staff seemed tired or fed up and weren’t friendly, especially at the beach. One restaurant manager, though, was very nice and friendly, and talked with everyone each day. On the first day, a staff member carried my suitcase and clearly waited for a tip. Other staff kept asking guests to leave good reviews and even telling them what to write, so I wouldn’t assume the positive reviews are honest. I don’t recommend this place unless you’re okay with the same tasteless food every day and living and spending your time somewhere dirty.

The food was barely edible, and the staff’s English was very limited, which surprised me since it’s such a basic language to learn. Some staff were nice and friendly, but others were rude and annoying. By the third day, the outdoor pool had closed because someone had defecated in it. The pools also shut too early, around 8 am to 6 pm. In my country they stay open much longer. At first the place looks nice, but the longer we stayed with my family, the clearer it became that this wasn’t a five-star hotel. Everything in the local hotel shop was expensive, though I did quite enjoy the room service. The rules are far too strict and need to change. Overall, we didn’t enjoy it, and I suggest bringing your own food if you come.
