Uyar Palace

The rooms in the booking photos looked lovely, but what we were offered on arrival was nothing like them. We saw three rooms, and every one had the same awful conditions: a moldy smell, no air to breathe, and cockroaches on the floor. I was frightened to stay there and worried we might suffocate overnight. After asking for a refund, we were told Booking would return the money within 10 days because it hadn't reached the hotel. When I followed up after that, they brushed me off and said there was nothing I could do. We'd booked three nights, and this was the worst hotel I've ever seen.

We booked at the last minute and got a great deal. My room had a private balcony and shower, and when I needed a charger the receptionist lent me his. The staff were really polite and kind, and the customer service was great. It's not a five-star hotel, but on holiday I mainly need somewhere to sleep before heading back out to explore. If you're travelling on a budget, this place works well.

We ended up paying 350TL extra per night for a room that was at least somewhat bearable. Even then, during our week there nobody came to clean or replace the sheets, and I doubt they'd been changed for the next guests either. The room we were first given was unbearable. There was no AC or fan, the heat was awful, and mosquitoes kept buzzing around. Cockroaches, dead and alive, were in the room, and filthy sheets and sewage-smelling towels made the hygiene feel nonexistent. A broken window opened onto an overgrown, jungle-like garden, leaving an easy way in for people or pests. Staff could barely understand English. They said we'd booked an "economy" room, as though that meant they could put us in conditions like a homeless shelter instead of simply giving us a smaller, less luxurious room. The disrespect and disregard for basic hospitality were shocking. I wouldn't wish Uyar Palace in Antalya on my worst enemy.

We left after being told we'd have to pay extra to move to a warmer, more suitable room, even though we'd already paid for two nights. The place was freezing, with no central heating, old windows full of gaps around the frames, and electrical wires hanging out of the walls. The owner had a terrible attitude and no customer service. This place isn't fit for a dog, let alone a hotel.
