Anil Hotel

Bergama turned out to be a surprisingly interesting and diverse small city, and it deserves more than a quick stop. We could walk to Pergamum and the Asclepieion from this family-run hotel, which is right in the Bergama CBD and only a few steps from the museum. Our fourth-floor room looked out toward Pergamum; it was spacious, quiet, and comfortable, including the large QS bed. The staff were personable and helpful.

The room was much smaller than the pictures suggested, and the lighting was dim at night. Mine had only three small lights, and the rest of the room stayed red. The AC was tucked away where it couldn't reach the room, so it was useless. The price seemed to depend on how many people were staying, rather than on the rooms.

The location is great, but for the city's standards and the lack of services, I found the hotel too expensive. I didn't like the reception from the beginning. I had pre-booked a deluxe double and given my bank card details, though I can't remember the exact terms about when the card would be charged. When the receptionist saw I had a child with me, she tried to put us in a single room instead. We argued for a long time before she called the manager. I also saw information calling this a four-star hotel. It's a tall building, but with absolutely no services, I don't agree with that classification.

January 2024 We came back after four years and found the same great service, warm rooms, and lovely Acropolis views. Breakfast was a tasty buffet, the location was great, and the staff were exceptional again. We'd happily stay here if we make a fourth trip to Bergama. January 2019 We loved the hotel. The staff were super friendly, the rooms were great, and the price was reasonable. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and we'd definitely stay again.
