Heybe Hotel

The indoor pool is one of the main reasons I’d consider this hotel. It’s genuinely nice, with a good design and plenty of usable space. The central location is another plus, and the terrace has a nice view. Breakfast had enough variety and tasted good. The rooms are clean and adequate if you’re choosing with price in mind, but they’re small. The beds are seriously uncomfortable, and you can actually hear the springs. The TV is tiny, more like a laptop screen, and seems to be there just to say there’s a TV. We’d heard criticism of the staff and unfortunately experienced it ourselves. The woman who welcomed us and helped on the first day was good, but the rest of the reception staff seemed indifferent and careless. For the location, pool, breakfast, and reasonable price, it’s still a place I’d recommend. Better staff guidance and improvements to the beds and TVs would help the hotel a lot.

The indoor pool was a highlight. Its decor made it feel like a resort, and the lobby was lovely. We also liked the modern, comfortable rooms. Breakfast cost extra, which we didn’t mind, but it was a shame that using the sauna cost extra too. It would have been even better if pool access included it. Our room stayed very hot even with the radiator off, because of the central heating system. Apparently that’s common in Turkey in winter, but we ended up turning on the AC when it was 5 degrees outside, which felt a bit counterproductive. We could hear noisy neighbors pretty easily, too. Some especially loud neighbors on our first night did eventually get told to quiet down by reception after a few complaints. Heybe Hotel is right in the center of Goreme, and we really enjoyed our stay. A couple of small changes could make it an excellent hotel.

The spa facilities let the experience down a bit. The heated pool was at a good temperature, but the setup was poor, with no proper changing rooms, benches, or showers, and not enough towels. The sauna and hammam also cost extra, they weren’t included in the stay. We stayed here for New Year’s Eve. The hotel itself is beautiful, with tasteful decor, a cozy ground-floor café, and exceptionally attentive, friendly staff. Breakfast was the highlight, delicious and with a great range of food. For a hotel in a higher category, though, the room details were disappointing. There wasn’t an outlet by the bedside table, the pillows were uncomfortable, and the shower curtain was too short so water splashed onto the bathroom floor. Toiletries were sparse, just one soap dispenser. It’s a nice hotel in a great location, but those missing details kept it from feeling luxurious.

I only stayed one night in August and wished I could have stayed longer. The pool was the best part, such a quiet, relaxing place, and I also enjoyed the basic massage. I loved the bed, and the bathroom was nice and clean. The place has an amazing concept and a good location, about five minutes from the center. The staff were helpful too. They booked my airport transport and looked for a scooter rental for me.
