Rose Cave Hotel

Our flight was delayed, so we got in during the early hours. They welcomed us and made us feel at home. The room was lovely and the views were great. Thank you!

The underground cave rooms have a really cool atmosphere, and the bathroom was spacious, with a nice shower and Turkish bath tub. We only took a photo of the second bedroom, but other reviews show the main room too. We also loved the terrace: the sunset was lovely, and watching the balloons at sunrise was even better. About 4-5 balloons came right over the hotel, which was beyond what I imagined. Khadija greeted us at check-in, shared food recommendations, and offered tours, though we'd already booked some through airbnb. Everyone was nice, and someone even lent me an adapter for my phone. We had our own car but didn't need it during the three days, since tour companies often picked us up and dropped us off at the main door. The walk back up from the city center is a little steep and takes 7-8 minutes, so a closer hotel might suit family members with mobility difficulties. Otherwise, it's still pretty close. There weren't many guests, which we liked. It felt comfortable and homely, almost like we had the place to ourselves. The stay was memorable, and for the price, Rose Cave covered the necessities for a nice visit. I don't really understand some of the negative reviews, and I don't think you need a very expensive hotel in Cappadocia. I'd rather spend the money on experiences. Breakfast was the one letdown. It wasn't what I expected, just bread, butter, nutella, cucumbers, and small pastries. I'd prefer to eat elsewhere, though the older lady serving breakfast was really sweet.

From the rooftop terrace you can watch the air balloons, and there are plenty of restaurants and coffee bars nearby. Our family room in a cave was beautiful, and both it and the hotel were very clean. The location was great, and the staff were helpful and very nice. Highly recommend!

CAUTION if you're planning to book through AIRBNB We booked the day before arrival, but they didn't confirm our request. I tried reaching them a few times through airbnb and by phone, but got no answer. Sadly, when we arrived in göreme, airbnb notified us that the booking had been cancelled after 24 hours. It was 9:30pm, and we had to take a taxi to nevsehir because all the affordable places in town were booked. I later checked airbnb and saw their answer rate was 24%. BE CAREFUL.
