The area around Galata Tower was lively, with cafes, restaurants, and fresh fruit and convenience stores almost at the door. We liked the old street our accommodation was on, and the location worked well for us. It was about a 10-minute walk downhill to Galata Bridge, where we could catch trams to all parts of Istanbul. We stayed in August 2013 with another couple around our age. We had separate, adjoining self-contained units, both clean and comfortable, with plenty of space.
