The two women looking after the hotel were always around, lovely, and ready to help with whatever we needed. Breakfast was another plus, and the woman preparing it quickly cooked whatever we asked for. The location slopes downhill, but we got used to it. There are lots more places up the hill, with a tram connection nearby, and Istanbul's main landmarks, shops, and restaurants are all close.

Breakfast was actually decent, which was a plus, but the room looked out over a little courtyard with tables. In high season, the windows would open right onto the breakfast and dining area, with people eating, talking, and probably smoking just below. The hotel felt seriously neglected. Door handles were broken, switches didn't work, wires were damaged, lamps were out, and ventilation was poor. It was hard to understand how some of that could be left in a working hotel. The one real positive was the location, in the historic center and within walking distance of plenty of interesting spots. Even so, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Breakfast was lovely, especially the amazing omelettes made by the woman preparing it. The two girls at reception were so kind and sweet, and always tried to make us comfortable and help with anything we needed. The whole staff at Ersari Hotel made us feel welcome. Thanks for the warm hospitality, I'd love to come back.

The room itself was good and breakfast was included and tasty, but they never cleaned the room during our stay. I'm really frustrated by how things went at Ersari Hotel. I first booked Xanadu hotel, then cancelled because we didn't like the location. Ersari had rooms available when I walked in. They quoted €40 a night, and after negotiating I got €30. I booked three nights. The reception girl Layla caused the biggest problem before night three, when she asked for more money. She first said we'd never agreed on €30 per night. I asked her to check the camera or call her boss. We went out to buy water since none had been given to us on our third night. When we returned, she said I'd paid €80 and wanted another €10. I said I'd paid €90 in cash, as I had, and she had asked for cash on the first day. She checked her money and found the €90. She also talked down to me about an airport transfer without even telling me the price, saying it was expensive and I couldn't afford it. She knew nothing about my yearly income, yet made that judgment. It felt extremely disrespectful and disappointing. I was shocked and didn't say another word. As a Bangladeshi citizen, I felt she assumed I was poor, which seemed a bit racist. Apart from the receptionist's behavior, I was happy with the stay. If paying cash, get a receipt. I don't trust that receptionist.

The breakfast was very basic, but the price was good for such a central location. The terraces and balconies could be made more inviting, with things like umbrellas, plants, or decorations to make them nicer places to sit.
