Galata Calm Tale Hotel

The room was spacious, spotless, and ready even though I arrived early. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the receptionist was so kind. I only stayed one night, which was a shame. The location is fantastic: peaceful, with the metro nearby and all sorts of places to visit within easy reach. The only snag was the WiFi, though maybe that was because my room was downstairs. The owner could look into it. Apart from that, 10/10.

The neighborhood is nasty. We were put in a basement room that was extremely damp. The shower fan spins, but I doubt it vents outdoors, and the steam took three hours to clear after a shower. There was also a bad smell, probably from mold growing somewhere in the walls. Service was okay and the people were nice, but they were never around. Make sure to contact them on WhatsApp.

The staff were really accommodating when we spoke to the front desk after our first night. There'd been a communication mix-up before we arrived, so we spent that night in a cramped basement room that didn't suit us as a tall couple with a week's worth of luggage. They moved us to a room that was perfect for the rest of the stay, and I really appreciated how they handled it. Galata Calm Night hotel is in a quiet spot in a great part of town, close to good places for food and drinks, with easy, frequent transport to Istanbul's main sights. The staff were very friendly, and I'd recommend it as a base for exploring the city.

This was our second stay, and we left with warm hearts again. The apartments are cozy, very clean, and have comfortable beds. The hosts are kind and helpful whenever you need them, and the old town location is really nice. Hope we can come back.
