Galata King Suites

I only planned to stay a few days, then extended the visit to two weeks. The guys working here are lovely and sort out whatever you need right away. Really great service. I’ll definitely return.

I made a reservation at the Galata Kings Suites while prices were still lower, since I knew they’d go up for the new year. I received a confirmation and a WhatsApp reply just as I was about to pay. Before the free-cancellation deadline, I checked once more that everything was in order. The owner then forced me to cancel because prices had risen, saying the reservation wasn’t valid. A disaster, greedy and insolent.

We booked three days through Airbnb, but our flights from Cappadocia were cancelled, so we had to travel the next day. We told the hotel right away about the delay, and they acknowledged it without any problem. When we finally arrived the following night at about 11 PM, the room we’d booked had been given to someone else. The receptionist was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful, and took us to a much lower-grade room. Its balcony door was half broken, the balcony was filthy with mud and dirt, and the main door didn’t feel secure. The broken balcony door also connected to a security room, which made the place feel very unsafe. When we asked about our booking, the receptionist rudely said our room was occupied and acted as if we were being unreasonable. Someone else turned up claiming to be the owner, though we later learned he was just a cousin and staff member. He promised we’d be moved to an upgraded room the next day. It was too late to find another place, so we had no choice but to stay the night. The next day brought more runaround. Eventually they moved us to a slightly better room, but that one had problems too. The worst part was how casually they treated guests’ privacy and security. One worker used a master key to open another room while a guest’s luggage was still inside, just to show us the room we were supposed to get the next day. That was highly unethical and unprofessional. The hotel is poorly maintained, and the staff seemed careless and untrustworthy. The whole experience was very disappointing. Don’t book here. It didn’t feel safe or clean, and wasn’t worth the money.

The whole team is pleasant, from Burak to the cleaners, who are lovely and very trustworthy. The location is a 10/10, close to everything in a beautiful area with cobbled streets, cafés, and gorgeous restaurants right by Galata Tower.
