Gedik Pasa Konagi Hotel

We felt so welcome in this family-run, 200-year-old house. It has a charm that’s hard to beat, and we’d definitely come back. The hotel is in the oldest part of Istanbul, but it was very quiet. My mother and I booked three nights, though we could easily have stayed longer. The staff spoke English well, were warm and helpful, pointed out the main sights within walking distance, suggested nearby restaurants, and booked us a Bosphorus boat tour with a transfer. We could choose our room and picked one on the ground floor because the stairs to the fourth floor seemed too much for my mother, who is over 80. We still climbed up to enjoy the roof terrace view of the Marmara Sea and the blue mosque, and to look at the neighbouring shoe manufactories. 😊 Our room suited us well. It was clean, the beds were super comfortable, and the bathroom facilities were in order, though the toilet seat was a little loose and some shower joints looked worn. There was self-regulating air conditioning too. Breakfast was tasty and varied, with continental and oriental options, hot and cold dishes, yoghurt and muesli, melon, cake, juice, and tea. Coffee was instant, for anyone who needs to know. The historic cellar vault made a lovely setting for it.

The rooms were clean and cozy, and the location made it easy to explore Istanbul. What made my stay especially memorable was how welcoming everyone was. The staff were friendly, attentive, and ready to help with whatever I needed. I had a wonderful time and would definitely return. I highly recommend this hotel if you want a warm, inviting place to stay.

The terrace has a lovely view of the city and sea, and I really liked the character and history of the place. The broad breakfast is served in a beautiful Byzantium space that feels like stepping into another time. Inside, the decor feels homely and the rooms were perfectly clean. We were warmly welcomed and got great tips about the city, along with some history. Such a cute hotel. As a cultural heritage fan, it ticks all the right boxes for me. 10/10, would recommend ☺️❤️

Getting around is easy, with public transport close by and famous sights like the Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, and the Galata Tower nearby. Food and other things cost much less in this area than in other parts of the city. The neighborhood can seem old or unfamiliar at first, but you soon see plenty of tourists and it feels safe, even for solo travelers. Reception staff are very friendly and always willing to help you enjoy Istanbul. It’s a great place to stay for a vacation.
