The location is excellent, with the tower, port, and places to go out about five minutes away. But the facilities need work. We found ants in the bed, and water dripped from the ceiling onto our plate. We like minimalism, but there should at least be a wardrobe in the room.
We stayed at Gladden hotel in October 2019. It was a clean, quiet place, and the staff were great, thanks to all of them 🙏 The area also worked really well for exploring the city, with the tram taking about 10 minutes to Taksim and 10 minutes to Sultanahmet.
I booked a month ahead, but they canceled my room on the day I was due to arrive without giving a reason. I think they did it to sell it at a higher price because it was Easter. Don't go here. They're the worst.
The hostel is close to almost all the places you'd want to visit in Istanbul, and Bayram, the manager, is one of the coolest people you'll meet. Ask him for help anytime, he's always ready to listen.
We had a comfortable, enjoyable four-night stay and will definitely come back. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. They offered us complimentary water, tea, coffee, and bear. Check-in and check-out were quick, the room was clean, and it was a pleasure meeting you, Tan 😊
