Golden Sand Hotel Istanbul

The rooftop view is lovely, and the hotel is in a really useful location for making the most of your time in Istanbul. Everyone was helpful, especially Ali. He worked the night shift while we were there and was great to chat with when we came back at the end of the day.

We had a wonderful week at Golden Sand Hotel, with two rooms for four of us. We picked it for the value and location and weren’t disappointed. The staff were consistently kind, greeted us with smiles, and checked if we needed anything. Their local tips led us to take the ferry to the Asian side, which became a trip highlight. We had a late flight home and couldn’t make breakfast, which starts at 8:30, so they packed sandwiches for us. We also used the hotel’s airport transfer for €45. A very comfortable Maybach-style van picked us up. There were a couple of small room issues: one mirror was cracked, and another room had a small mold patch on the bathroom ceiling. When our showerhead broke one morning, though, it was replaced by that afternoon. The area can get a little noisy in the evenings from drumming or music in a nearby square, usually stopping around 8 PM. It didn’t bother us much after a day of sightseeing, but light sleepers might want to know. The Grand Bazaar and T1 tram are about a 10-minute walk away, with one uphill street that’s manageable. We’d choose the hotel again for its neighborhood and attentive service.

Ali went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and memorable, and the whole team was kind and caring toward my family and me. They helped us book tours and even adjusted breakfast times to fit our needs. Breakfast on the rooftop was a lovely start to the day, with a beautiful view of the Blue Mosque. The hotel is well placed for major sights like the Grand Bazaar. Our room was cleaned daily, and handy extras included adaptors, slippers, irons, and more. We’d love to visit again and definitely recommend it.

The staff were remarkably friendly, a full 10/10. The rooms need renovating, though, and I’d choose another hotel for a longer stay. The photos on Booking.com are out of date and don’t show the actual condition.
