The bathroom was so cramped that I couldn't reach my leg to wash it without banging my knee on the faucet. There were stains all over the mattress, too. We first noticed the mold and cigarette smell and dirty bathroom when we got in around midnight, tired from the trip. This was my first visit to Turkey, and we'd picked the place for its location, reviews, and great-looking photos. What a surprise. It felt more like a motel, and it was the most disgusting place I've ever stayed in. When we told the staff about the problems, they said they already knew. No apology, and they didn't try to move us or offer anything. Please save yourself the trouble and don't stay here.

The location and rooftop are amazing, and the hotel feels unique. But the birds kept in cages on the ground floor made me sad. Several have died after guests gave them chocolate and similar things. I think they're going for an old-fashioned look with the caged birds, but it just feels depressing. I wish they'd stop keeping parrots and other birds in those little cages.

There’s so much history in the place, and the decor is amazing. It’s one of my favorite spots for a drink in Beyoglu, with a lovely terrace and a bar on the main floor. I wish the terrace opened on pleasant evenings earlier in the year. It’s March now, and I think it usually opens in May. A few more drink choices, or maybe some food, would be nice too. I've heard it might even be haunted...

The Grand Hotel de Londres in Istanbul has beautiful antique furnishings and elegant decor that make it feel like stepping back in time. The history and charm in every corner gave us a lovely way to experience Istanbul's culture, and the romantic atmosphere and amazing staff made our stay unforgettable. It's very photogenic. We saw lots of wedding photo sessions during our stay, and ended up hiring a professional photographer to take some pictures for us to remember the trip.
