Grand Pamir Hotel

We left less than an hour after checking in because of the awful smell and lack of basic hygiene. The rooms smelled of cigarettes and were extremely dirty, with cockroaches, bugs and marks around the beds. The furniture was damaged, and the bathrooms were very dirty, marked up and smelled disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend staying here at all. Even on a budget, avoid it.

The one good thing was the shy but kind staff. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you want somewhere clean and peaceful to rest after the noisy city, or to nap during the day. When we arrived, we were shocked by how dirty the rooms were: hair on the floor, mold in the bathroom corner, an uncleaned wardrobe and stained beds. The rooms smelled, and the balcony door wouldn’t shut properly. During our five-day stay, the floor and bathroom were never cleaned. The daily “cleaning” just meant straightening the sheets and changing towels, and we had to ask for toilet paper every day because it wasn’t replenished. The location was a little inconvenient for our plans, though not the worst. Breakfast was okay, but it was served on level -2, in a cellar that felt neither comfortable nor inviting.

During our 10 days here, the hotel staff were always there for us and made the stay feel special. They were helpful, friendly and respectful, and I felt safe letting my family go out on their own. The neighborhood felt safe to walk around in at any hour, and everything we bought was reasonably priced, with nobody trying to rip us off. The hotel is close to tourist attractions, about a 20-minute walk from the Grand Bazaar. Restaurants and shops are right outside and open late, and it felt like a family and kid-friendly area. Breakfast had lots of tasty choices. Our rooms were cleaned daily and toiletries were provided. Taxis dropped us off and picked us up right outside, which made it easy to travel farther afield. The reception team was especially helpful, and I’d happily stay here again.

The rooms were in a terrible state, and the bathroom stank because there was no ventilation. Breakfast was included and paid for, but they provided neither breakfast nor a refund, and the staff laughed about it. I’d give zero stars if I could. This was my worst hotel stay.
