Grand Peninsula Hotel

We stayed two nights and found it reasonably priced, a good deal. The rooms are old, but everything worked well. The terrace view was incredible and breakfast was good. The location is excellent, just five minutes on foot from the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia, and 25 minutes from Eminonu and Galata bridge. Thanks, and see you soon.

The location is great for being near the tourist sights, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast had plenty of options and was made by a nice lady. Our room wasn’t in the best shape, so this is a good choice if you don’t have high standards. I’d give it 3.5 out of 5 if I could.

The location is the one real plus, about a five-minute walk from Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The rest of our stay wasn’t so good. Breakfast dessert was the same every day. We had two rooms: the first had a terrace but a very small bathroom, and the cleaning wasn’t thorough. The second had the same service and was very, very small. The receptionist had offered us a better room for just two nights, with the rest of our stay in the room we’d booked. When it was time to switch, he was asleep on the couch. He told us to leave our luggage in the room and said they’d move it when the new room was free. That evening, we came back and found our bags in the corridor. The next day, we went out to visit Istanbul and returned to find the room hadn’t been cleaned. When I complained, they said they didn’t know they needed to clean it because we hadn’t left the key at reception. Incredible.

The Turkish breakfast was really good, with a homemade feel, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a little worn, with issues around the door handles and wallpaper. If that sort of thing doesn’t bother you, this is a great value for money.
