The place has a really welcoming feel, and you can tell care went into creating the atmosphere. I visited The The Wolf Hotel in Istanbul on May 16 this year. Batu, the owner, is a personable and very intelligent young man who is also a university student in Istanbul. I had a great experience.

The bar food was really good, and the staff were great. It's a handy spot by the river, with bars and shops nearby, and trams close at hand. Besiktas stadium is also walkable.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the stay itself was okay, but I left with serious concerns about security. The reception was often unattended, the main entrance stayed open at all hours, and people could easily enter from the bar downstairs. It didn't feel secure. One evening I left my wallet in the room. While we were out, someone tried to make fraudulent charges on my card, and they began before we returned. When we got back, my things, including the card, were still there. I had only used that card elsewhere on the trip to pay for the hotel, so I think its details may have been compromised during our stay. I can't be sure where or how it happened, but this was the only place I'd used it, and the timing along with the lack of basic security is hard to dismiss. I'm sharing this so other travelers can take extra care. The room may be fine, but the hotel needs to address the security problem.

We slept perfectly well in our roomy room and really enjoyed the stay. The Wolf Hotel staff are genuinely friendly and lovely. Downstairs there's a beautiful Irish Pub showing live sports, and hotel guests get 10% off the total bill. They clearly take care of their guests. You can also pick up free bottles of water for your room at reception on the first floor. Thanks for everything. Marlo and Kyara

I stayed here two months ago, and wish I hadn't. At check-in the night receptionist was asleep, so I waited by the door until morning. When the managers arrived, I explained that my reservation hadn't been made. The system showed the charge had gone through, but they kept me at the entrance for two hours. They didn't understand the system and had to call an employee, who eventually fixed it. The room was filthy, including the floors and bathroom. Such a waste of money. I don't know what else to say about managers who can't handle the system.
