Great Fortune Hotel & Spa

We spent four nights here and found it excellent for the price. The central location and helpful staff make it easy to recommend. They checked us in quickly and gave us good tips on places to visit and eat. The room wasn't large, but had what we needed for a comfortable stay. The bathroom had all the amenities, and we got fresh bedding, towels, and bottled water every day, which was a real plus since tap water isn't advised for drinking. On our second-to-last night we tried the SPA. The saunas and pool were a good addition. I liked the cold plunge after the sauna, though my travel companion found the water a little too cold. I also had a really good full-body massage. The masseuse knew exactly which muscles needed pressure and how much.

We arrived before the usual check-in time, but they got us into a room within ten minutes. The staff were really helpful, and the hotel is close to the city centre, with everything nearby. The mosque is only a stone's throw away, handy if you want to visit or pray. Very pleased with the stay and will book again. FR

The location was pretty good, close to Sultanahmet Mosque, Grand Bazaar, and other places, and the staff were really nice. But I wouldn't recommend the hotel. The furniture is old, many things don't work properly, and the advertised pictures looked nothing like the rooms we saw. Breakfast options were poor, and you could hear everything through the terrible walls. We had trouble opening our door every time. One night, we waited 30 minutes for staff to bring a manual key and unlock it from my brother's connecting room. Be careful booking cruises through the hotel, as they charge extra. I wish I'd booked online in advance, since it would have been much cheaper.

The hallways smelled terrible, and both of the two rooms we booked were filthy. We had prepaid through Expedia, unfortunately, but checked out immediately and moved to another hotel. Absolutely disgusting. If I could give zero stars, I would. Do not book.
