Büyük Hamit Hotel

The room was clean and comfortable, and service stayed consistent. The location also made getting around the city practical. What I liked best was how natural the friendly atmosphere felt. It didn't seem forced like at other hotels, and I was actually surprised by it. From day one, ALL the staff at Hotel Büyük Hamit were welcoming, respectful, and ready to help with whatever I asked. They did their best to make things easier, which I really appreciated. Whenever I'm back in Istanbul, this will be one of my first choices. I definitely recommend it.

Getting around was convenient and pleasant, and breakfast was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and made the stay even more enjoyable. I had a wonderful time at this beautiful hotel. Everything was excellent from start to finish. Highly recommended!

There were lots of different noises from outside while we were resting. The staff were trying their best, but the extra blanket was a strange experience: we asked for one and got it in a sealed plastic bag without a cover. When we asked for a cover, they handed it over without putting it on. Then, when we checked, it didn't fit the blanket, so they had to bring another one. In the end, the guy who brought it to our room put the blanket inside the cover. It's an old hotel. I'm sure it was luxurious and very good about 20 years ago, but a lot has broken since then and it looks ugly. Still, generally everything was okay, and with a discount the place is worth the money.

The room smelled of urine, there was dirt in the toilet, and it looked like the sheets had been reused. We also found mold in the drawers and leaks, and the place felt unsafe. In person, the hotel looked very basic, nowhere near elegant. The photos online gave us the wrong impression, and it felt more like a one-star motel than a five-star hotel. Please think about your health and don't stay here. I can't understand how anyone rated it above one star. Our coordinators were forcing us to stay, but we refused. One of them had lied to us, and the bell staff member looked annoyed when we spoke to him. He didn't know English and rolled his eyes. The coordinator did the same whenever he turned his back to us. When I called him out, he acted as though he hadn't heard and rolled his eyes again. Asking for the bare minimum and a safe place seemed like too much for him and the others to handle. They weren't hotel staff. I wish I could share pictures of the mold and leaks.
