Hotel Real Life

For the price, location, Wi-Fi, and breakfast, this was very fair. Just check that the room equipment works, especially the AC, fridge, and TV.

The area is great for getting around, with loads of places to eat, including the wonderful Ethiopean restaurant and Malaysian, plus plenty of Turkish food. It's gritty rather than posh, so that might not suit everyone. I'd recommend the hotel and would definitely return. The inside is lovely, even though the outside doesn't look like much. The older reviews seem awful, so either the hotel has really improved or people were unfair. The staff work hard, pay close attention to their jobs, and are all helpful and charming. The free breakfast buffet was a real treat, with a choice I really enjoyed. The staff keep a careful eye on the plates and make sure they're stocked. In the room, the shower was a good size, and I appreciated the toilet's 'anti drop lid'. It might sound like a small thing, but in Turkiye flimsy toilet seats seem to be an issue. It's annoying and gross when a lid drops on you, and this hotel doesn't have that problem. There's also a kettle in the room, and room service tops up the water. The mini-bar and television weren't working. I told the staff and help was offered straight away, although I think I was out when they came, and I was leaving soon anyway. They seem deliberate about maintaining the place. I slept comfortably in the okay bed. The linen was clean but a bit worn, nothing excessive. The room wasn't too warm or cold, and the heater kept the temperature steady.

We paid for an airport transfer as part of the package, but the taxi never arrived. They said they'd cover the return transfer, then didn't. The staff rip you off and lie. The hotel was filthy. The shower had black mold or dirt, the walls were dirty and cracked, and the bed was just a mattress on an uncovered box spring on the floor. Watch out at breakfast, too. Flies kept landing in the big bowls of jelly, and who knows how many got stuck in them. Stay anywhere else.

The rooms were really clean, the staff were lovely, and breakfast was nice. It's a comfortable place in a great spot for visiting the city's attractions. I recommend Real Life Hotel !
