Hotel the Ferah

The room was tiny and very basic, but the bed was clean, there was hot water for showers and the AC worked. Breakfast was simple too, so for the price I’d give it four stars. You can walk to the yousefbasha T1 line and Aksaray M1 in a few minutes, though the uphill ramp from the stations could be difficult for older people or wheelchair users. I preferred having breakfast at mado cafe, about a five-minute walk away. It’s really excellent.

Good enough for a short visit to Istanbul. It’s a local hotel in the busy Fatih area, with bus stops and metro lines within walking distance. My room was small but clean, and the staff were polite. The hotel also seemed well maintained.

There was a lot of street noise, and the windows did little to keep it out. Check-in was delayed, and the receptionist tried to hold on to my passport, which didn’t feel safe. They asked for payment the day before checkout and initially wanted cash, but when I pointed out the card terminal, they took my card without any problem. The room itself was in poor shape. The furniture was damaged, the hair dryer cord was broken and seemed dangerous, and the shower was very dirty. There was black grime, used soap left on the glass, and an old, dirty shampoo tube sitting on top of it. The hotel looked much less clean than the pictures. If you can spend a bit more, I’d choose somewhere else.

Room was clean, and everyone was great. Insyaa ALLOH, we’ll come back next year.
