This was my third visit to Hotel Ida, and it will be my last. The earlier staff were kind, my room was clean even if shabby, and I didn't have complaints. Things changed badly after they were replaced. The new manager Soner repeatedly touched me inappropriately, hugged me when I didn't want it, tried to squeeze my breasts, and kept trying to pull my hands toward his crotch. He used his key to enter my room while I was inside, thankfully dressed, and at least three times when I was out. The trouble began before I even arrived. My confirmed airport pickup never showed, so I paid 50 euro for a taxi instead of the agreed 25 euro, and reached the hotel an hour and a half late for dinner with friends. Soner then said I had no reservation, pointing to the booking for the following weekend. I showed him the email chain confirming both weekends and both pickups, but he kept saying I'd made a mistake. He said Friday was available but Saturday was full, unless I would stay in a room with a "technical problem" for free. It was almost 9pm and I had few alternatives, so I accepted. Friday's room was shabby and dirtier than on my earlier stays, though the sheets were clean. I threw off the blanket and went to sleep. The next day I moved to the other room. It had used bedding and linens in the bathroom, ants all over the floor and bed, and the very sweet cleaner said he'd try to deal with them and bring clean sheets and towels. I left my suitcase there and went to see Istanbul, returning late. Then I noticed the ceiling was moldy, Soner's clothes were in the wardrobe, and his bathing sponge and soap were in the shower. The shower was slimy, the toilet seat was up and gross, and the ants had returned. There is more that's creepy and unpleasant, but my last night says enough. I sat on the edge of the bed reading all night so I wouldn't lie down with the ants, listening for him to come back down the stairs. I won't return.

The terrace view over the city is lovely at breakfast, and the reception staff are really friendly. It's a small hotel in Istanbul's tourist area, with good value for the price.
