I stayed in 2008, before Google Maps was available, and I still remember leaving Istanbul feeling good about the place. I told myself I'd stay there again if I returned. I even remember walking all the way toward the bridge and having a fish sandwich. The hotel was really well located, with food easy to find and the tram going right by the front. Some people might mind the slight noise. The staff were helpful too. It's a small hotel, so there's no dining area. It's still around about 16 years after my stay, and it made it through the pandemic when many small hotels didn't. I have good memories of it.

I booked Hotel Ilkay but ended up in Lalahan Hotel, which was confusing at first and felt a little misleading. The room itself was clean, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom modern and well maintained. Breakfast was included, and the staff were friendly and helpful during my stay. Gulhane and Sirkeci tram and metro stations are only a few minutes' walk away, which made getting around easy. I can see why it gets good reviews, and I mostly agree. I wanted a clean, comfortable, well located base because I planned to spend most of my time exploring Istanbul. For those priorities, it was decent, though not a luxury stay.

The single room was on the small side, but clean and comfortable. There was so much to see in Istanbul that I only needed it to sleep in :)) The gentlemen at reception gave outstanding service, helping me with Istanbul card details and directions to places of interest. Ilkay Hotel is in the tourist district, with popular attractions within walking distance. The tram stop is about 200m away and the ferry station about 500m. A convenient place to stay.

We moved here after leaving another hotel, and the staff found us two rooms at the last minute. They were quick to help with everything, from finding parking and walking us to the lot, to making change and letting us take some food for our baby. I don't expect service workers to go that far, but these people did, and they seemed to genuinely care. The rooms were very clean and well stocked, with AC you can control in each one. They're a little small, but totally reasonable for the price. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. The price was the most competitive we found after searching for quite a while, even though we booked last minute during peak holiday season. And the location couldn't be more central. I can't think of anything bad to say. Highly recommend booking here!
