Istanbul Sydney Hotel

The rooms are small and could be cleaner. There’s also a noticeable bump in the floor that made my kids trip a few times, so keep that in mind if you’re travelling with children. You won’t find luxury here, and there’s no pool or lift. Still, the essentials worked fine: the air conditioning, fridge, and stove. The beds were comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep, and the staff were incredibly helpful. The price is hard to beat, and breakfast is included. It’s basic, but better than nothing and a decent start to the day. The hotel is within a 20-minute walk of the Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, and the Blue Mosque. Public transport is accessible, though getting to the nearest stop means a steep 15-minute walk. There’s also a very affordable market nearby for essentials. If you want the cheapest place to stay in Istanbul, it’s worth considering. Set your expectations: it’s a basic spot to sleep after exploring, but for the price you get more than enough.

We had a really nice stay on our first visit to Istanbul, from 19.07.24-26.07.24. The staff were lovely and welcoming, and the service was amazing. The room was cool when we checked in even though it was hot outside. The hotel was clean, with hot water and good wifi, and there are a few supermarkets nearby. The food was very good, except for the sausages. Everything else was great for the price, as long as you remember this isn’t a 5 star hotel. Thank you, we’ll stay again! 🤝😊🙌🤓☝️🤭

The photos were very deceiving. The rooms were cramped and old, and even the bedsheets didn’t fit the beds. The bathroom smelled mouldy and damp. The shower was broken and looked as if it had been glued back together. The toilet was fitted at an angle and so high that your feet couldn’t touch the floor. It was extremely dirty and disgusting inside. The AC leaked, and the kettle didn’t work. I had to ask repeatedly for another one. There was no coffee or tea. Room service came only every 3 days, and only if asked. Breakfast was standard, just okay. The rooftop area had one very small balcony. Nearly every other customer staying there at the time had some kind of complaint, and the staff weren’t helpful at all.

The strong smell of fried fish, bed bugs, and unsafe flooring with exposed nails made this place disgusting and unsafe. The host wouldn’t give us another room or help us find somewhere else, and refused to refund us. We had just arrived with our children after a 24-hour flight, so being left to look for a safe, clean hotel at 2AM IN THE NIGHT with our 5 year old and infant was unacceptable. When we reported the problems, he said “so what’s it’s no big deal.” About the wood floors, he said it was because of a recent flooding. Revolting. He offered no help finding somewhere to stay and no other room. Stay away. The man is a scammer, and we are reporting him.
