Karakoy Aparts Hotel

The room and its view were excellent for the price, and the staff were friendly. The location was great, too. I did notice a few small maintenance problems with the door lock, bathroom fittings, and access to power sockets. Even so, I found it comfortable and good value, and would recommend it.

We booked this new, lovely, clean hotel for a week and were really happy with it. Public transport is close, and Eminonu, Agia Sophia, Galata Tower and the other main sights are easy to reach. Everyone on staff was polite and helpful, especially Rohat on the night shift. He shared useful tips and advice on what not to miss, brought us water and extra pillows, and did a lot to make the stay memorable. The street is busy, though. Looking for total quiet in Istanbul is like looking for water in the desert. 😄

The hotel is in a lively part of Istanbul, so it won't suit someone looking for peace and quiet. I was fortunate to get a room at the back, which was relatively quiet, and I slept like a king. The room felt a little dated and dark, but it had what I needed, including a good bed and clean bathroom. I stayed for two nights, and when I made an error in my reservation, the friendly staff corrected it quickly and helpfully.

The location is good and the view was nice, but my stay was terrible otherwise. The bathroom walls and floor were very dirty, as were the fridge and chair, and trash from the previous guests had been left behind. We asked several times for toilet paper and were told the room would be cleaned, but neither happened. Noise was another problem: music from the club next door, a machine buzzing constantly on the roof, and construction in the morning. For the premium price, this didn't feel like a four-star hotel, maybe a four out of ten.
