The kitchen was very dirty, and the neighborhood felt dangerous and dirty. There was no view from the window, and opening it brought in cigarette smoke and a foul smell. There was no daily service, such as cleaning or changing the linens, and they didn’t provide soap or shampoo. Laundry had to be done with other guests 😐. Most worrying, the electric cooker cable caught fire because the wiring was dangerous. When the hotel manager came to repair it, he said they’d replace it the next day 😞, but after eight days no one had even asked what was happening 😐. They were apathetic, indifferent, and irresponsible. I suggest looking elsewhere.

The location was the best part. The service was sloppy and unprofessional, the communication poor, and the staff rude. We stayed a few nights. I was leaving early, while my husband was leaving the following day, so we asked if he could stay one more night. We’re waiting for my husband’s visa. The receptionist agreed to a cheaper price for that extra night. We’d been paying 125 TRY per night and appreciated the offer. The next day, the same man said it would be 150 TRY. I pointed out that was more than our current rate, and he then said 130 TRY. It felt like they didn’t know what they’d originally charged and were just making up prices. I didn’t want to argue over 5 TRY, so I paid 130 TRY. He must have realized he’d overcharged us and returned 30 TRY. I asked if he was sure, he said yes, and we shook hands and thanked him for honoring the cheaper rate. That evening, when we came back from the city, he mumbled, “tomorrow you will give me an extra 30 TRY.” He tried to make it sound like a joke, but it felt passive aggressive. They wrote a receipt on scrap paper in pen, with no names, business name, or dates. When we asked for a proper one, he said they don’t do them and it would cost us. He was evasive and unhelpful over his own payment mistake. The receipt had my husband’s name completely wrong, even though the man had taken so many photos of our passports. We needed it for immigration and asked them to correct it. Instead of helping, they blocked us on Wattsapp after telling us we could contact them there. They’re shifty, change prices daily, and seem interested only in money, not customers. I own a business, and my number one priority is my customers. Also, there are no washing machines in the rooms as booking.com shows. You have to use a dingy, smelly basement where they cook, and ask for toilet paper and towels, which aren’t given daily. Don’t bother with this place.

The owner of the hotel was very helpful. The place is much smaller than it looks in the pictures, and it’s in a popular neighborhood rather than a classic area. There are many Indians, working-class people, Afghans, Bangladeshis, and others around, with all due respect to everyone.

A nice, clean, affordable place for a vacation, in a good location, with a very friendly receptionist.

The staff were the highlight for us: extremely friendly, helpful, and flexible. They were available for questions and gave us good tips on sights and restaurants. We stayed for nine days with my girlfriend and didn’t lack anything. The pictures match the place well, the kitchen was good, and the bathroom was clean and nice. There’s no bathroom extractor fan, and there’s no elevator either, though we expected that and it didn’t bother us. The location is central in the old town district. It’s a five-minute walk to the waterfront and around 20 minutes to both Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar. Nearby are little shops selling food, clothes, and knick-knacks, plus a small square 100 meters away with lots of good restaurants. The airport shuttle worked perfectly. They can also arrange a driver to take you around beautiful places nearby, for an affordable extra charge. It’s a good, affordable hotel, and I’m completely happy. If I come back to Istanbul, I’ll book it again.
