Manesol Old City Bosphorus Hotel

This was the most exhausting stay I’ve ever had, especially because of the night shift receptionist, who was very rude. The hotel only gives two room cards. My brother left his card in the room, and housekeeping took it after cleaning. When we asked the night receptionist for another, he snapped at us and wouldn’t help, even though we tried to explain that the hotel’s rule was two cards per room. What a receptionist. I recommend that everyone from the Arab Gulf avoid staying here.

We stayed from DEC 28 - JAN 05 2025, on our family’s first trip to Turkey. The staff and hotel made the experience miserable. In our opinion, this place doesn’t deserve its four-star rating. We booked two rooms for four people, but the condition was disappointing for the price and promotional photos. The floors were old and dirty and badly needed replacing. The furniture was old, oversized, and stuck together. One bed had a once-white painted wooden frame that was now discolored, cracked, and worn. The mattress didn’t have the quality you’d expect at a four-star hotel. The pillows, sheets, and duvet were heavily used, pilled, threadbare in places, and had faded stains we assumed were from previous guests. The towels were just as worn. We’ve traveled abroad before and never had a hotel charge us for a towel used to clean up black tea spilled on the floor. That happened early in the day. When we got back around 9:30 PM, our room key wouldn’t open the door. At reception, we were told they’d fix the card after we paid 500 TL to replace or launder the towels. In one room, there was also a stain on the white toilet lid in the bathroom. We asked for it to be cleaned when we arrived, but it was still there despite our daily room-cleaning sign. Then, the day before checkout, they accused us of causing it and charged a fee. On our first night we asked to have stained bedding changed. They brought “new” bedding that was old and ripped, and charged us for that too. We were charged around 4000 TL in extra fees before checking out. The hotel also felt unsafe. The two women in our room and the two men in the other were in the last two rooms at the end of the hallway. We women slept poorly and heard someone walking back and forth at different times of night almost every night. The men in the other room didn’t have that experience. I also noticed during our stay that my luggage contents weren’t left the way I’d arranged them. This was a 0 out of 10 experience. We definitely would NOT recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay at Manesol Old City Bosphorus. Mustafa gave us a lovely room on a high floor with an amazing view, and it was very clean and comfortable. Sahine was always ready to help when we needed something. The staff were kind, the location was perfect, and everything felt easy and relaxing. Highly recommend!

The location is good, but I’ll never come back. The receptionist in the morning was rude and unwelcoming, and the person handling bills said they couldn’t reach the receptionist when we waited over 30 minutes with nobody at reception. Our room was very small despite paying for a sea-view room, and the view was only partial. When I asked for a larger room, the receptionist was unfriendly and said that was the room we had booked. The room furniture was unclean, and breakfast was below what I’d expect from a three-star hotel, let alone a four-star one.
