The second time I came to Istanbul, in 2001, I returned to this same hotel. I'd first stayed there back in 1990. My room was small, but clean, and the price was reasonable. I remember playing chess with a teenage Turkish man at reception and having Turkish apple tea with him many times.

Getting around from this hotel is easy, with tourist areas only a short trip away. The location is very good, and the management and staff are flexible and do their best to make sure guests leave happy.

The location worked well, and the staff were friendly. I booked by email in Japanese, and there was also a Japanese staff member at a nearby affiliated travel agency. The agency's president is beautiful and speaks Japanese fluently. The current Japanese staff member gave me a kind impression. I didn't particularly need their help, but that reassurance meant a lot while traveling alone in another country. I stayed six nights in November 2013 on my first solo trip to Turkey. It was €40 a night. The room was small, the amenities were old, and I could hear noise from the next room. If you don't expect much from the facilities, it's a usable hotel in a good spot.
