Miklagord Hotel

We booked hotel Miklagord but were put in their friendly hotel, Divas hotel, right next door. The room was clean, the bathroom had recently been renovated, and we had a balcony with a lovely view of a mosque and the sea. The staff were very friendly and polite. The location was perfect for seeing all the major sights on foot, and Cemberlitas tram station was nearby. It was a really good value choice for affordable accommodation in central Istanbul. I definitely recommend it. Thank you!

The staff were really nice, and I had no complaints about them. The night shift employee helped with my bags when I arrived around 5am, even though he was sleepy. When I checked out, he carried them outside to the taxi, knowing I'd had back surgery. I stayed six days, mostly out for appointments during the day and back at the hotel at night. Room service came every day with fresh towels, but cleanliness was the problem. From the first day there was a lot of long hair on the bedsheet, probably women's hair. The floor looked as if it had never been swept or mopped, and I couldn't walk on it barefoot. The washroom shampoo ran out while I was there.

Hotel Miklagord has the same name as HOTEL MEGARON, and there was garbage all around the hotel. The smell was terrible, and when we arrived the receptionist was smoking outside, which seemed very unprofessional. They wanted us to sleep in the basement, where there were insects and bugs, even though that wasn't mentioned in the description. What we got didn't match the listing, and the website photos weren't correct. The staff were unfriendly. The insects made your skin itchy, so I wouldn't bring children here. Not even animals would want to sleep in those rooms. I'd stay away. Even if I had been offered a free room, I wouldn't have accepted it.

For the price, it's a reasonable place to sleep near the attractions. The room is small, and cleanliness isn't very high. We used our own towels instead of the hotel's. It's fine if you're on a budget and don't expect too much, but it isn't the place if you want something a little more luxurious. The staff, especially Mr. Doaly, were hospitable and approachable, with a friendly but professional manner. We felt he was ready and willing to help as much as he could. I wish him all the best.
