Assat at reception was the best part of our stay. He was so kind and easy to talk to, and his tips on places to visit and eat nearby were genuinely useful. The hotel is also in a brilliant spot, with most historical sights just a short walk away. Thanks to Assat and the management of the new cherry hotel for making our time in istanbul such a great experience.

The staff were friendly enough, but the room was very dirty. There were orange stains on the sheets and blanket, dirt on the pillow, and filthy floors. The shower stand was broken, and hot water didn’t always come through. I’d initially given a higher rating, but then at 1am the staff were yelling and shouting together without any regard for people trying to sleep.

The room was smaller than advertised, and very dirty. On arrival it was obvious the bedding hadn’t been changed. The building is old and smells bad, the room is noisy, and the air around the area feels stale. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We loved staying in a very local quarter, with traditional cafes, restaurants, and artisan shops nearby. During the day you can hear prayers from several mosques, which was striking for us as European tourists and gave us a glimpse of community life in Istanbul. We liked walking around because the city feels different on every street. Public transport is about a 15-minute walk away, and taxis and Uber are easy to find. The main sights, including the Blue Mosques and Aya Sofia, were around 10-15 minutes on foot. Our room was small, but that was fine since we spent most of the day sightseeing. It was clean, and they offered to clean it twice more during our week-long stay. Ali was friendly and gave us good tips on places to visit. Thanks to the New Cherry Hotel staff for a lovely experience.
