Perula Hotel & SPA

We had repeated problems flushing the toilet, and the hotel smelled strongly of chlorine, which made it uncomfortable to breathe. During the whole week, our sheets were never changed; they just made the bed with the same old ones. Housekeeping was poor. The breakfast was very limited and not good. There was drilling late one evening, which was extremely disturbing, and the staff weren't especially friendly or welcoming. The only positive was the fairly central location in Sultanahmet. I would absolutely not recommend it unless you're trying to save money and have very low expectations.

We spent a full day without hot water, after walking in the rain. At first they said it wouldn't be fixed until the next morning. After I contacted Booking.com, they said it would be sorted within an hour, but nothing changed. That was completely unacceptable. Breakfast was poorly managed and misleading, with things regularly missing. During my three-day stay there was no apple juice any day, scrambled eggs were missing twice, and the bread was stale every day and available only in very small amounts. The towels were thin and worn out, not fit for proper use. The sheets smelled unpleasant, leaving me concerned they hadn't been changed properly between guests. In my experience, the hotel fell short on basic comfort, cleanliness, service, security, and honesty. I wouldn't recommend it.

The rooftop terrace is fantastic, and they serve a good breakfast there. The location is great and it's good value for money, though the rooms are a bit small.

The location is convenient, just a short walk from the Grand Bazaar and other main sights, and the afternoon receptionist was polite, kind, and helpful with suggestions for places to eat. But the beautiful terrace with a view of the Blue Mosque was why I booked, hoping to have breakfast or dinner there. It was closed when I arrived, which was a big disappointment and changed how I felt about the stay. The rooms are extremely small, much smaller than they look in the photos. There's even a phone in the toilet: one day reception called us and we had to answer from there. Breakfast was included, but so basic and limited that we ate outside instead. There wasn't even a simple croissant or yogurt, and the breakfast area is tiny. I think the hotel should improve this, since breakfast is such an important part of the stay. The morning concierge didn't even say good morning when we came in, so it didn't feel welcoming. I honestly think having a woman at the front desk in the morning could make reception warmer and more pleasant. It's fine for a budget stay of a night or two, but can be inconvenient for a longer visit or if you value comfort.
