RETROPERA

We were only in Istanbul for a few hours between flights and stayed in this small hotel apartment. The location was the best, the rooms were clean, and the staff were kind and very helpful.

For a good price compared with what you get, I was very satisfied with my 3 nights here in Istanbul. The location made it convenient to get around the city, and the staff were friendly and helpful, doing what they could to make sure we were happy. My room was extremely clean, especially the bathroom. I'd like to stay here again next time I'm in Istanbul.

Our vacation was ruined by this miserable place. We booked a room for four at Retropera Hotel a few weeks earlier, but when we arrived we found a double bed, a single bed, and another bed improvised on a couch instead of the four beds we had reserved. It looked nothing like the photos or the listing on Booking.com. The receptionist was rude, and the room was filthy and unsuitable for a stay. The sheets and toilet were dirty, the floor hadn't been washed, and there was dust everywhere. When we raised the problem, they offered no solution. They laughed at us and said it would be very bad if they knew the real owner. We weren't refunded, and the hotel owner forcibly took our tax bill. You should not go to Retropera Hotel.

The street up to the hotel is pretty dirty, but inside, the room was clean and spacious. The air-conditioning worked great, and the Wi-Fi was free and decently fast. The receptionist looked a bit scary at first :) but turned out to be a really cool guy. I had a great time staying here.
