The room itself was nice, though the bathroom floor didn’t drain properly when I showered. The night at reception was the real problem. We arrived at 12:05 midnight, exhausted after walking around Istanbul all day, with my wife, my sister-in-law, and our 10 month old baby. When asked how many guests, I said three, and the receptionist told me the booking was for two. He said it would cost €10 or 500 lira to add the third guest. I asked if my family could go into the room first, and he gave me a key, so I took them up. Then he asked for my sister-in-law’s passport. I said I’d get it, but I’d already taken off my shoes and socks because I was so tired. As I tried to put them back on, he kept shouting that she couldn’t stay in the room without a passport. He accused me of lying, cheating, and trying to play him, while cutting me off and telling me to respect the other guests. I asked him to stop yelling and give me a moment. He stood over me and continued for about 10 minutes. I suggested getting another room instead, since I’d already paid €20 online on Agoda, but he just kept shouting. I took my family to another hotel. He told me I could cancel and that he’d accept it, but Agoda said cancellation wasn’t accepted and I’d need to contact the hotel. When I went back, the receptionist was gone. A young boy was there, and told me my reservation had been canceled. He called the same man, spoke Turkish with him, then told me it was fine to go to the room, that they no longer needed the passport, and that the reservation hadn’t been canceled after all. Who was playing whom? The young boy at least asked if I wanted tea or coffee when I returned, which the first receptionist never did. I’ve traveled to 25 countries, and this was the worst reception I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t recommend the place, which is a shame because the hotel itself was nice apart from the shower drainage.

The room was in very poor shape: damp walls, bad paintwork, no soundproofing, broken bathroom door, and a sink that kept leaking. There wasn’t even a trash bin. The area outside also felt unpleasant and unclean. I’d been told during booking that parking was available, but there was no lot when I arrived. Staff suggested parking on the street, which didn’t feel safe, so I used a nearby garage instead and paid 500 Turkish Lira per day. It was an awful stay, and I strongly advise against booking here.

I got to the hotel at midnight, exhausted and barely able to walk, and even took my shoes off at reception. When asked how many guests, I said three. The receptionist then kept accusing me of lying and trying to trick him because the booking was for two. I tried to explain that if I were lying, I would have said two and brought the third person in when he wasn’t looking, but he kept acting wildly. I ended up taking my 10 month old daughter, my wife, and my sister-in-law to another hotel. The man said he had canceled the reservation, but online it still showed as active. I had to return and spend the night alone at this hotel even though I didn’t want to. I’ll never go back. That receptionist was a total jerk, and I hope he gets fired.

We paid for one night and left without staying. The photos on the site didn’t match what we found: our room had used, moldy shower curtains hanging at the windows, water damage marks on the ceiling, and a bathroom I can’t even describe. Maybe it’s okay if you’re a backpacker looking for a bed and bathroom, since you get what you pay for. Otherwise, avoid it.

What stood out most was how attentive the staff were, especially Ramazan. He was so kind, and shared some of his own story along with the history of the place. We found it really interesting and appreciated him taking the time. The hotel is lovely and well placed for Istanbul’s main attractions, which made getting around easy. My mom and I were very happy with the service and the stay. We’ll definitely return. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
