The location is great, but otherwise this is a basic, reasonably cheap hostel. It’s among the cheaper options in Istanbul, though not the very cheapest. My stay had several problems. The mattress was the most uncomfortable I can remember sleeping on, the air conditioning didn’t work, and we had to rely on an open window. Booking.com seems to say cards are accepted, but the hostel itself is cash only. Apparently you can pay by card if you pay in advance through Booking.com. I’m also unsure if there’s more than one property, but the building I stayed in didn’t have the long list of facilities shown on Booking.com. One guest had booked and paid through the site, then arrived to be told there were no beds and to try again the next day. How is overbooking hostel beds excusable?

There wasn’t a hostel or anyone to meet us at the location when we arrived. After several calls, we were told our room was somewhere else, about a 10-minute walk away. That place was just a hallway with no reception or shared spaces, nothing like the website photos. The room was dark and damaged, with no natural light, damp-stained walls, and no freezer. It was really uncomfortable and disappointing. Our host did invite us to breakfast twice and let us stay later on the final night.

The location was good, and that’s the only positive I can think of. The place wasn’t as advertised. We were three young women, and the owner, a middle-aged creep, came into our room at midnight without knocking. He seemed surprised when we turned down his invitation to go out for dinner.

The photos they use are completely misleading. My bed had yellow stains, and they didn’t change the sheets. The room was damp and full of mold, which was especially hard for me because I’m asthmatic. The older staff man was rude and unhelpful. I had a terrible stay, and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I wouldn’t wish it on an animal.

The map shows the wrong spot. It’s actually beside Starbucks coffee, through a small entrance, and you have to go up to the 3rd floor, with reception on the 4th. There’s no elevator. The hostel itself is quite nice, with a lovely view over Istanbul, clean rooms and beds, and helpful staff who are ready to assist. It’s close to Sultan Ahmed (blue mosque), and only a 5-minute walk from the Bosphorus. I’d recommend staying here.
