Emen's Hotel

The breakfast had plenty of choice, including eggs cooked to order, and the staff were professional and helpful. The stay itself was easy. Free valet parking around the clock was especially handy on a narrow street with little parking, and the laundry was quick and reasonably priced. Two things could be better: the room got quite warm at night, and in April the AC only heated. Also, WiFi kept asking me to log in again. It would be nice if it remembered the credentials longer.

Right in the center of Izmir, the location was a real plus, and the room was nice with a beautiful bathroom. The included breakfast was fine, though nothing special. I noticed a slightly odd smell in the hallway, but it wasn’t terrible. The TV setup, built into a mirrored wooden unit, was awkward to use and watch comfortably. A decent stay with a few small annoyances.

I specifically requested a quiet room, but ended up in the worst spot: on the first floor, just over a metre from the elevator and across from the lobby staircase. Noise from the lobby and bar carried up, and I could clearly hear traffic and people talking because I was right above the entrance. It was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. The rooms themselves are modern but compact. The hotel wasn’t anywhere near full over Christmas and New Year, yet reception staff either seemed incompetent or simply didn’t care. They never acknowledged me when I passed, too busy on their phones or watching videos. Breakfast was good, but its staff were unwelcoming and inattentive. I don’t understand the high ratings when even basic hospitality was missing. I won’t stay there on my next visit to Izmir.

The staff were especially welcoming, polite, and helpful. It’s a nice, clean hotel in the wider center of Izmir. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re cozy. I’d recommend it warmly.
