Konak Hotel 2

With the main bus station closed, we would've been completely lost without the hotel's help. The staff spent a good half hour calling around to find out where our bus was leaving from, and they went above and beyond for us. It's also conveniently located and has everything you'd expect from a hotel. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

The location was the only good part. The room felt very outdated, the toilet was dirty, and there was a smoky smell throughout. The walls were paper thin, and the staff didn't speak English, which I'd expect at a hotel. I wouldn't stay again, even at the low price.

I paid 500 TL for a single room, which was a reasonable price. The staff were friendly, and the hotel is close to shops, restaurants and the train station. WiFi was fast and reliable, and the TV had a selection of channels. But I had the cheapest room, and while I understand it wouldn't be as nice as others, it still lacked basic care. The building echoed badly, and I could hear people talking in the lobby through the paper-thin walls. The only window faced the hallway, letting in light whenever people passed, with no curtain to block it at night. The mattress was poor quality, with springs poking into me. The closet was unbalanced and shook whenever I put something on it. The shower head holder was broken, even though it's a simple part to replace. There was a strong cigarette smell in the room, and flushing the toilet made a noise like someone screaming. I got no discount for staying five nights.

A great place to stay in Kars, close to everything you need. The rooms were clean and fresh, the price was great, and the staff and owner were really nice, friendly and helpful. Totally recommended.
