Othello Premium Hotel

We booked at the last minute and were lucky they had a room. It was suitable for one night, with comfy beds and a small fridge, and the staff were helpful. The room was generally clean, though there were stains on the towels, which was unpleasant. Turkish breakfast was included in the price. It was a nice basic meal and kept us full through the morning. The location worked well, within walking distance of the train station, restaurants, shops and cafes. Good value, and we had a good night's rest.

My room faced the street, so it was noisy, which comes with staying somewhere central. Like most hotel rooms in Turkey, it smelled of smoke. They were happy to store my bike in the lobby. For the price, the hotel had what you'd expect at this level: an okay breakfast, clean towels and a good enough bed. I even had a little desk where I could work on my laptop.

After a grueling drive into Kars, we really needed a break, and Otel İpekyolu gave us one. The staff helped us find parking in front of the hotel. We didn't get a chance to check out other hotels in such a small city, but this first impression was positive and gave us a restful start to our time in Kars.

I was charged 600 per night with breakfast. I'm a foreigner, in case that makes any difference. The room was good and clean. Just know the hot water isn't available all day.
