Cappadocia Splendid Cave Hotel

The hotel was welcoming, and our clean room, carved into the cliffside, looked out over a small valley. We spent two lovely nights at Splendid Cave Hotel. Just be aware there’s no balloon view from the hotel. For that, you’ll need to find a spot in Gerome, about 4 km away. For sunset, there’s a roadside cafe about a six-minute walk up the road, with a beautiful view.

The rooms are spacious and authentic, and ours had a hot tub, which was especially welcome on a winter visit. The hotel is beautifully built down the slope toward the valley, with a stunning blend of nature and culture. We had everything we needed. Mr Nazmi was especially attentive and generous in helping with every need and problem. The valley is amazing, so don’t miss the tour. Splendid really suits this hotel.

The breakfast was excellent, freshly prepared by a splendid cook, and the room stayed naturally cool when it was too hot outside. But the first impression was a disappointment. The reception was dusty and poorly maintained, and we didn’t get a warm welcome. We wanted to leave as soon as possible. The room furniture was shabby, and the stay didn’t feel worth the money.

The rooms are so thoughtfully designed, with lighted pottery in each one, and staying in a cave that carries traces of Turkish culture was amazing. I’m a tour guide who travels all over Turkey, and I’ve never seen a hotel like this. From the valley you can see ancient pigeon holes, and I’m sure the staff can explain what they were used for. The hotel is in the town center, near Turkish restaurants and liquor shops. You can also visit the town’s castle for a lovely view of Cappadocia’s shapes. All my guests left happy, with smiles and good memories. Thanks to everyone. I’m writing this from the heart.
