There’s a nook with free-flowing tea where you can hang out during the heat of the day, and the roof terrace is a lovely place to chill once the sun goes down. The manager speaks some English and introduced me to a nearby laundry. The other staff don’t speak English, but they’re helpful and patient if you know how to use Google Translate. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and above all, clean. This comfortable, clean hotel is in a traditional Han in the centre of Sanliurfa, across the road from the bazaar and a few minutes’ walk from Balikligol.

The location made it easy to get around: Balikligöl is about 10 minutes away, the bazaar 2 minutes, and the museums and necropolis (Cave of Abraham on Google Maps) around 20 minutes on foot. The bus stop for Gobeklitepe and other archaeological sites is also about 20 minutes away, and bus 0 runs there every hour. I spent six nights here in September 2024, traveling alone for the first time. I was nervous as an English woman on my own, but the staff at CİHANGİR made me feel welcome straight away. They were so thoughtful that they brought me drinks and fresh watermelon while I relaxed on the sun terrace, then served me hot pasta, bread, and salad for dinner without me asking. The manager even drove me to the airport for my flight home. I can't thank everyone enough for looking after me. The old Urfa building is beautiful, with a big terrace, plenty of tables and chairs, large fans, a water cooler, and Turkish tea available all day. My room was gorgeous too, with a large shower and toilet, mini fridge, air conditioning, cot, wardrobe, TV, and desk. The traditional Turkish breakfast was a huge buffet, fresh and delicious. The Wi-Fi didn't reach my room, which was just off the terrace, during my whole stay. The room TV only had Turkish channels, and there was no way to change the language or add English subtitles. Still, I'd definitely stay here again when I return to Urfa. For me, it's a five-star place.

We found the old town easy to explore from here, and it was only a short walk to buses and dolmuses for Gobekletepe and Harran. The hotel is a lovely old house. Keep going past the Google Maps pin once you see its sign over a pedestrian alley. Our room was beautiful, and the terraces looked like they'd be a lovely place to spend time in summer. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always ready to answer questions. Breakfast was delicious, with more than just the usual staples.

The location is a dream if you're visiting as a tourist. What mattered most to me, though, was cleanliness, and this place was seriously clean. Everything looked freshly washed, including the bathroom, and I felt as if I were sleeping in my own bed. Thanks to the helpful staff, and all the best to them.

The original stone walls have been left as they are, without plaster or modern decorations over them, which I really appreciated. This recently opened hotel is a lovely place to get a feel for the old town of Șanliurfa. There's a generous patio with plenty of seating for tea or a rest, plus a rooftop terrace. The rooms are very large, carefully restored, furnished, and maintained, and the bathrooms were spotless. Staff helped me check in and out after midnight because of my bus schedule, and the manager was always available with advice and assistance. Breakfast costs extra. I ate in town, so I can't comment on it.
