Inside, the place was a complete surprise after the drive up to Sweet Home River Hotel, where you can’t see anything on the way in. I came to Istanbul for the first time and wanted a small holiday within the trip, and this turned out to be a perfect place to unwind for a few days away from the city madness. If you’re a tourist, getting there can be a bit challenging. A taxi is best, and make sure you book both the trip there and the return. The rooms are spacious, with a fireplace and jacuzzi in the ensuite, almost like a luxury suite. The main lounge has very comfy sofas, another fireplace, and a quirky design that’s nice to look at. Outside, eating by the river is calm and relaxing. There’s a great menu, and breakfast is generous, with homemade dishes, which is a nice touch. The staff are warm, friendly, and welcoming. Sammy is amazing and has many years of experience in luxury hospitality. It’s a 15-minute walk to the centre, where there are plenty of amazing places to eat and a beach to relax on. You can also hire a quad bike, called an ATV here, and ride around. I was surprised more tourists don’t know about this amazing place. In a way, that was nice.

We ended up loving the place, even though the front didn’t look very promising when we arrived. We’d picked it after reading reviews and seeing that the room had a Jacuzzi. Our room was fantastic, the food was superb, and the half-board meals were tremendous, with a perfect breakfast. We originally booked one room for one night, then asked for another when we got there. They gave it to us for an extra 150Liras, which I thought was fantastic. The owner was very helpful. It overlooks the river, and we could use a cycling boat free of charge. The beach is a 10-minute drive away. We’ll definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose it again. The rooms were spotless, with great hygiene and comfort, and every meal was a delight. The food was legendary, far beyond what we expected.
