Sunrise Hot Spring Hotel

The location is nice, and the in-room bathtub has real hot springs water. But the front desk was unfriendly. I reported mosquitoes in the room and asked whether they had spray or a plug-in repellent. The answer was simply no, they had nothing like that, and that the weather was cold so there were no mosquitoes. They looked at me as if I were lying. Guests weren't allowed to visit the six-floor bath house. The outdoor pools were aged and run-down. For a $4500 room rate, it wasn't worth it. I stayed 2020-12/17.

The meals were tasty, and the hot spring pools, though not huge, were at a good temperature. I spent a night here and had a nice stay. I think they upgraded me to a suite because nobody else was there, which was a pleasant surprise. It's a bit pricey, at least by Taiwan standards.

Years ago, I used to visit and had one of my most amazing hot spring experiences in Taiwan there. The hillside of a wooded mountain is dotted with numerous pools fed by almost odorless hot spring water. You can relax in the therapeutic water while taking in the beautiful scenery. If you go in January, pick up strawberries from one of the street vendors on the way to the hotel.

The couple room is especially nice, with a private half-outdoor bath where you can soak naked :) Very nice, and recommended for couples :)
